  • Notes
    • William Johnson was educated at Anderson Institute at Lerwick, and then served a apprenticeship with the Roads Surveyor for Zetland Council. When he had served his time he joined Fife County Council until 1950 when he returned to Shetland as engngineer to Alex. Robertson & Co. for the water supply for Burra Isle which was followed by the Sandwick scheme. In 1955 he returned to the employment of the Zetland County Council as an assistant surveyor. When the Council was reorganised in 1974 the Roads department was split into two, construction and design. At the time of his sudden death he was a deputy director in the design department.
